A murderer who raped a woman in a laundry room has had his prison term extended by four years.

Cameron Woods, 27, pounced on his victim in Paisley on April 16th 2023.

He is already serving an 18-and-a-half-year sentence for fatally stabbing Robert Fisher, 26, three months after the rape.

Woods and then co-accused Stacey Balfour, 24, attacked Mr Fisher at flats in Paisley and were convicted of his murder earlier this year.

He appeared by video link at the High Court in Glasgow today after being found guilty of the earlier rape.

Woods, of Paisley, repeatedly attempted to kiss the woman and made sexual remarks towards her.

He touched her on the body before producing a knife and placing it at her neck.

Woods then grabbed her neck and hair and ordered her to get on the ground. He forced her down and instructed her to remove her clothing, before pulling off her lower garments and raping her, causing injury.

Defence advocate Callum Hiller told the court that Woods continues to deny the offence.

Judge Sheena Fraser ordered the four-year rape sentence to run consecutively to his existing murder term.

Woods was also placed on the sex offenders register and made subject to an indefinite non-harassment order preventing any contact with his victim.

The judge said: “You committed the heinous crime of rape by forcibly pulling a vulnerable woman into a secluded room and held a knife to her face to achieve your purpose.

“The use of a weapon in these circumstances along with your record affects the level of culpability.

“The victim impact statement sets out the impact on her which is clearly significant and long lasting. It is clear the level of harm inflicted is high.

“You have a horrendous criminal record which include crimes of violence and use of a weapon.

“There is no other method of dealing with this case other than custody.”
