ASH Scotland is urging high schools and youth groups across Renfrewshire to make use of its updated education packs designed to help young people make informed choices to live tobacco-free lives.
The charity says the refreshed Tobacco-free School and Tobacco-free Youth packs aim to support teachers and youth workers as concerns continue around youth smoking and vaping. Each pack contains 30 structured activities that can be used in classrooms or group settings to spark discussion and build confidence around saying no to nicotine.
The resources cover a wide range of topics, including smoking and mental health, vaping and peer pressure, and being confidently nicotine-free. New content has also been added on nicotine pouches, reflecting their growing presence among young people. The packs are designed to support personal and social education lessons as well as wider youth work across different subjects.
Chief executive Sheila Duffy said the charity is regularly contacted by teachers and youth workers looking for clear, reliable information on tobacco and nicotine products. She said the updated packs provide evidence-based material to help young people better understand the risks associated with smoking, vaping and nicotine use, and to support healthier long-term choices.
