A community film screening exploring trauma, recovery and resilience will take place in Paisley next month.

The New Tannahill Centre in Ferguslie Park will host a screening of the documentary Love and Trouble on Thursday 9th April from 6pm. The event is being organised in partnership with Laura McGlinn of Scotland’s ACEs Action Community as part of a wider national tour.

The film examines the long-term impact of trauma and adversity, and the journeys people take towards recovery. Organisers say the screening aims to encourage conversation around trauma-informed practice and the role communities can play in supporting resilience and healing.

Following the screening there will be a panel discussion and audience question-and-answer session, giving attendees the opportunity to reflect on the themes raised in the film and discuss issues including trauma, poverty, mental health and community recovery.

The event will take place in a cinema-style setting in the Tannahill Centre’s main hall, with complimentary snacks and soft drinks available to create a relaxed movie-night atmosphere.

Entry is free, although a donation bucket will be available for anyone who wishes to contribute.

Anyone interested in learning more about trauma-informed practice, community recovery and the power of storytelling is welcome to attend.

Places can be reserved online via Eventbrite, here: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/love-and-trouble-community-film-screening-discussion-tickets-1984822780366.
