ScotRail has confirmed changes to several train services after the major fire on Union Street in Glasgow disrupted routes into the city.

From Monday, a revised timetable will operate across parts of the network while the situation is managed. Services between Ayr and Paisley will run every 30 minutes, while trains between Gourock and Paisley and Wemyss Bay and Paisley will run hourly.

Other routes affected include an hourly service between Kilwinning and Largs, and Kilwinning and Ardrossan Harbour, while trains between Barrhead and Kilmarnock will also run hourly.

ScotRail says services between Kilmarnock and Carlisle, as well as South Ayrshire routes, will continue to run as scheduled.

Elsewhere, passengers will see a half-hourly shuttle service between Lanark and Motherwell, alongside an hourly service between Edinburgh and West Calder.

Passengers travelling towards Glasgow should also be aware that all trains will terminate at Paisley Gilmour Street until further notice.

Services will not call at Glasgow Central, meaning passengers will need to change at Paisley Gilmour Street for onward travel where possible.

To maintain local connections during the disruption, trains will also make additional stops at Dalry, Glengarnock, Lochwinnoch, Howwood and Milliken Park.

ScotRail has also confirmed that services will not operate to or from Glasgow Central High Level until at least Wednesday 18th March, as demolition work begins on the nearby building damaged in the Union Street fire.

With the site formally handed over to Glasgow City Council, a safety zone has been established to allow the council to complete its assessment of the building and begin the demolition process.

As the safety zone extends to the station itself, it has not been possible to carry out the work needed to reopen the high level platforms that would allow ScotRail services to return.

Further information is expected to be provided to passengers on Monday 16th March outlining when services may resume.

ScotRail confirmed that a full timetable continues to operate on Glasgow Central’s low level platforms, which serve routes from Cumbernauld, Whifflet, Larkhall and Motherwell to Dalmuir, Balloch and Milngavie. Those services resumed on Wednesday 11th March and will continue to run.

Passengers across the west of Scotland are being urged to check their full journey before travelling, as a number of routes remain suspended or are operating with altered timetables.
