Detectives are investigating after a car was deliberately set on fire in Paisley in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Around 5am on Sunday 15th March 2026, a red Citroen C1 was set on fire on Wardrop Street.

The fire was extinguished by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, and no injuries were reported.

Detective Constable Jack McElwee said: “Thankfully no one was hurt during this incident however, it could’ve ended much worse if the fire had spread to vehicles parked nearby.

“I am appealing to anyone in the area who has private CCTV of dash-came footage to please review this to see if it has captured anything of significance that would assist with our investigation.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 0708 of 15 March 2026. Alternatively, you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
