A Paisley hospital ward is appealing for help from local knitters and crocheters to support patients receiving end-of-life care.

Ward 11 at the Royal Alexandra Hospital is asking people to create small knitted or crocheted hearts as part of its “kindness hearts” initiative.

The hearts are given in pairs, with one staying with the patient and the matching one given to a loved one. Staff say the gesture helps provide comfort, dignity and a lasting connection for families during difficult moments.

In a message shared with the appeal, organisers said the hearts may seem simple but can mean a great deal, offering something for families to hold onto at a challenging time.

While this is a Ward 11 appeal, all wards within the Royal Alexandra Hospital would welcome donations, with contributions able to be dropped off at Ward 11, Royal Alexandra Hospital, Corsebar Road, Paisley, PA2 9PN.
