Residents were evacuated from homes in Linwood following an earlier incident.
The evacuations affected properties in Reid Avenue and Bridge of Weir Road after reports of a suspicious package.
Emergency services attended alongside two Army bomb disposal units. The item was assessed and confirmed to be safe.
Part of Bridge of Weir Road was closed, with traffic being turned around, but the road has now reopened. Police and bomb disposal units have since left the area.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 9.30am on Tuesday, 5th May, 2026, we were called to a report of a suspicious item at a property on Reid Avenue in Linwood.
“Officers and Explosive Ordnance Disposal attended and the building and nearby properties were evacuated as a precaution.
“The item was assessed and confirmed to pose no risk to the public.”
