The Tannahill Centre and the Darkwood Crew represented Renfrewshire at an international conference hosted by the University of Glasgow.

The groups took part in the World Community Development Conference (WCDC) 2026, held at the James McCune Smith Learning Hub on 30th June 2026.

The conference, organised by the International Association for Community Development (IACD) in partnership with the University of Glasgow, brought together community development practitioners, policymakers, academics and activists from around the world.

This year’s conference theme was “Community Development in a Chaotic World: Challenge, Change and Collective Action.”

The Tannahill Centre and the Darkwood Crew showcased their work as part of the conference.

Special guests included Jerry O’Donovan, Consul General of Ireland to Scotland, and Anastasia Crickley, Chairperson of the AIEB.

Delegates from around the world attended the event to share knowledge, exchange ideas and discuss responses to challenges facing communities, including political instability, social fragmentation, economic inequality and environmental issues.
