Johnstone Fire Engine Rally will return to the town for the first time since 2019 on Saturday 15th August.
Historic and modern fire engines will start the event at 11am, with a parade leaving Johnstone Fire Station on Kings Road and travelling through the town centre to Houstoun Square.
The fire engines will then be on display in Houstoun Square, with activities taking place from 12pm until 4pm.
Visitors will be able to meet crews, explore the historic vehicles and learn about how firefighting has changed over the decades.
The event is being hosted by Renfrewshire Council in partnership with the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service Heritage Trust.
Fire safety demonstrations will take place during the afternoon, giving visitors an insight into how crews respond to emergencies and offering practical advice on keeping families and homes safe.
There will also be free face-painting for children and walkabout characters in Houstoun Square.
Johnstone Sound will host the live stage programme from the bandstand.
Houston Pipe Band will perform from 12pm until 12.15pm, followed by Lewis McVey from 12.30pm until 1pm.
Zoe Tait ‘The Ladybug’ will perform from 1.30pm until 2pm, with Dream Believe Academy on stage from 2.30pm until 3pm. John Rush will perform from 3.30pm until 4pm.
An indoor market organised by Johnstone Business Consortium will also run from 12pm until 4pm. It will feature 14 local traders running tombolas and selling confectionery, books, jewellery and other items.
The return of the rally has been made possible by extra investment from Renfrewshire Council to work with local communities on a calendar of cultural events across the area’s five main town centres.
Renfrewshire Council Events Manager Pauline Allan said: “The Fire Engine Rally has always been loved by the people of Johnstone, and I’m delighted that we are able to bring the event back to the town this year.
“Events like the Fire Engine Rally really benefit the community, bringing visitors in and increasing footfall to local traders. Our events strategy has collaboration at its heart, and it’s been great to work with local partners and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Heritage Trust to deliver what will be a great afternoon in the town.”
Accessibility arrangements include an AccessoLoo vehicle, a quiet space tent and access to Johnstone Town Hall. The event location is flat with multiple viewing points, while the parade route is predominantly flat with several places to view the parade.
The event is free and runs from 11am until 4pm.
