Detailed planning permission has been granted for Tech Terrace, a major new development at the Advanced Manufacturing Innovation District Scotland in Renfrewshire.
The 30,000 sq ft development will provide flexible manufacturing units within a landscaped campus next to Glasgow Airport.
Units will be available from around 2,000 sq ft and are aimed at high-growth advanced manufacturing companies looking to expand.
The project is supported by a £4.74 million Scottish Enterprise grant and matched funding from AMIDS joint venture partners Renfrewshire Council and Buccleuch Property.
Tech Terrace will be located within the AMIDS and Glasgow Airport tax site, where eligible companies can access a range of financial incentives.
AMIDS is home to the National Manufacturing Institute Scotland and CPI’s Medicines Manufacturing Innovation Centre.
Renfrewshire Council Leader Iain Nicolson said: “This is an exciting step in the ongoing development of AMIDS. Tech Terrace will play a key role in helping businesses establish themselves within Renfrewshire and benefit from being part of a manufacturing cluster, with the opportunity to expand into larger, purpose-built facilities as they grow.
“AMIDS supports our objective to provide local people access to high-quality jobs and to establish Renfrewshire as a global leader in advanced manufacturing.”
Josh Thomas, Development Manager at Buccleuch Property, added: “Securing planning approval is a major milestone for Tech Terrace and for the continued development of AMIDS. Our commitment to delivering manufacturing units capable of accommodating a range of users will allow innovative businesses to cluster around the leading High Value Manufacturing Catapults – the National Manufacturing Institute Scotland (NMIS) and CPI’s Medicines Manufacturing Innovation Centre – whether that’s on a speculative or design and build basis.”
Construction of Tech Terrace is expected to begin in the autumn.
