Families and schools in Paisley are being invited to collect free high-visibility vests from Miller Homes’ Thornly Park development to help children stay visible as the darker nights draw in.

The housebuilder is marking International Walk to School Month and the seventh year of its Home Safe initiative in the West of Scotland.

Since launching in 2019, the initiative has donated more than 9,000 high-visibility vests to children and families across the region.

The vests are intended to help children remain visible to other road users when walking, cycling or scooting.

Andrew McArthur, regional operations director for Miller Homes Scotland West, said: “Home Safe is an initiative we’re incredibly proud of, and it’s fantastic to be celebrating its seventh year. Since launching the initiative, we’ve donated more than 9,000 high-visibility vests to children and families across the West of Scotland, helping them stay visible in their local communities.

“As the mornings and evenings become darker, visibility becomes increasingly important for children walking, cycling or scooting to school and when they’re out and about locally. We hope our Home Safe vests will give parents and carers some additional reassurance while helping children be more visible to other road users.

“We’d encourage families and schools in the communities around our developments to come along and collect a vest while stocks last.”

Free vests can be collected from the sales centre at Thornly Park, while stocks last. The centre is open Thursday to Monday, from 10.30am to 5.30pm.
