Gleniffer High School has received a positive inspection result following a recent inspection by Education Scotland.
The high school received two Good grades for learning, teaching and assessment and raising attainment and achievement following a recent inspection.
Gleniffer was praised for the caring and supportive relationships between pupils and staff and its welcoming and nurturing learning environment.
Senior school leaders were recognised for fostering successful partnerships that provided pupils with the opportunity to develop employability skills and go into positive destinations after leaving school.
The report also highlighted Gleniffer’s commitment to providing a wide range of courses tailored to the needs of pupils requiring additional support needs. As a result, there has been an increase in attainment at Scottish Credit Qualification Framework (SCQF) levels 3 and 4.
Gleniffer is the latest Renfrewshire school out of ten inspected over the last 18 months to receive a positive grade from Education Scotland.
Renfrewshire Council’s education services also received recognition in a recent national inspection of all 32 councils, with three areas of best practice listed in the final report.
Lisa Chalmers, head teacher for Gleniffer High, said: “I am delighted the hard work and efforts of our staff and learners have been recognised by Education Scotland. As a school, we endeavour to provide a range of experiences for young people which ensure they have every opportunity to attain and achieve. This report demonstrates our commitment to getting it right for our learners and celebrating their individual strengths and successes.”
Councillor Emma Rodden, convener of Renfrewshire Council’s Education and Children’s Services Policy Board, praised the positive report. She said: “This positive inspection result is a testament to the hard work and dedication of everyone at the school to achieve the very best outcomes for pupils.
“Renfrewshire schools are committed to ensuring young people receive the best possible education. Having Gleniffer become the tenth school to achieve a positive inspection is a fantastic result. I’m immensely proud of our schools and the work they do for Renfrewshire’s children, young people and communities.”
Janie O’Neill, director of Children’s Services for Renfrewshire Council, added: “Gleniffer High deserves this recognition from Education Scotland which reflects the positive relationships which exist between the young people and staff, which I have witnessed firsthand in my visits to the school, and the commitment of the head teacher and wider staff to doing their very best for the young people. I am delighted for the entire school community and pass on my congratulations to all.”
Gleniffer High also recently won a UK-wide Rockets for All competition organised by Big Ideas in partnership with the Imperial Space Lab. A group of fourth year (S4) pupils are visiting the London-based lab in June as part of an all-expenses paid trip.
