Simon Howie - Pudding Race ‘26

Scottish butcher Simon Howie is combining puddings and pace this January with the launch of the first-ever Simon Howie 5K Puddin’ Race – a fun run celebrating Burns Night while raising money for Scottish Action for Mental Health (SAMH).

The event takes place on Sunday 25th January 2026 in Dunning, Perthshire, inviting runners of all abilities to lace up their trainers, shake off the January blues and help raise awareness of mental wellbeing across Scotland.

Simon Howie said: “January is our busiest time of year as we produce over a million haggis for Burns Night, but we know it can also feel like a slog for many people. We wanted to create something that gets folk moving, smiling and connecting – and that’s what the Puddin’ Race is all about.”

Entry costs £15, with £1 from every entry going directly to SAMH and all profits helping fund the charity’s mental health services. Participants will receive a celebratory haggis and medal, and can also buy special race T-shirts and tote bags as keepsakes.

Hazel McIlwraith, Director of Fundraising and Major Appeal at SAMH, said: “SAMH has supported Scotland’s mental health for more than 100 years. Partnerships like this help us keep delivering vital services and show how physical activity can really boost wellbeing.”
