Pupils from Hillview Primary School in Barrhead have been helping to brighten up the entrance to Taylor Wimpey West Scotland’s new Arthurlie Gate housing development after taking part in a special design competition.

Primary 5 pupils were challenged to create a flag design to welcome customers and visitors to the new site. The winning design, created by Eve Lavety, has now been made into a flag that proudly flies at the entrance to Arthurlie Gate. Eve also received a £50 book voucher and visited the development to see her artwork in place.

The standard of entries was so high that three more pupils — Hrudya, and twins Lewis and Logan — had their designs chosen to feature on additional welcome signage at the development. Each of them received a £15 book voucher.

Mrs Capuano, class teacher at Hillview Primary, said the pupils were delighted to take part: “The children enjoyed tackling their brief to create a bold and colourful design, and the judges found it hard to choose a winner due to the high standard of entries. The flag looks great, and the banner is so colourful too. Together they showcase the hard work and artistic talent of our children and create a lovely connection between our school and the local Taylor Wimpey development in Barrhead.”

Audrey Ross, Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey West Scotland, added: “We are delighted with the winning flag design and the other entries that make up the welcome banner for our Arthurlie Gate development. Together they create a very colourful welcome for visitors.

“We recognise the importance of supporting the communities in which we build. It has been our pleasure to work with Hillview Primary on this project and to strengthen our links within the local community of Barrhead.”
