Crowds filled Houstoun Square on Saturday as Johnstone welcomed the switch-on of its Christmas lights for 2025.

Local acts and DJs from Johnstone Sound kept the atmosphere lively from the bandstand, while the funfair brought plenty of excitement for families, with rides for both youngsters and the young at heart.

Visitors also enjoyed the St Vincent’s Hospice Christmas market, face painting, street performers and a giant snow globe that proved popular for festive family photos.

Santa made a visit to his grotto to hear what Johnstone’s children are hoping to find under the tree this year.

At 5pm, Renfrewshire’s Provost Lorraine Cameron took to the stage with Jenna from Wallace Primary School, the winner of the town’s Christmas competition, to switch on the lights and officially brighten Johnstone for the festive season.
