Police have been carrying out high-visibility patrols in Renfrew as part of an Easter campaign aimed at providing reassurance and tackling crime.
During patrols on Wednesday 8th April 2026, officers seized an e-scooter from a man in Robertson Park. He was charged with a road traffic offence.
Police say that while e-scooters are legal to buy, it is currently against the law to ride a privately owned e-scooter in public places. This includes roads, pavements, parks, town centres and promenades, as they do not meet the required legal standards.
Privately owned e-scooters can only be used on private land with the landowner’s permission.
Officers said the patrols are also aimed at engaging with the public while deterring and detecting offences across the area.
