Candidates contesting the Renfrewshire West and Levern Valley constituency are making their final push ahead of polling day on Thursday 7th May 2026.

The SNP’s Tom Arthur is seeking to retain the seat. He was first elected in 2016 and re-elected in 2021, and has served as Minister for Public Finance, Planning and Community Wealth.

His campaign has focused on the cost of living and access to services, including plans to expand the £2 bus fare cap and increase the number of GP walk-in centres. He has also backed support for first-time buyers and wider proposals set out by the SNP ahead of the election.

Scottish Labour candidate Paul O’Kane has said the Royal Alexandra Hospital will be a key priority in his campaign.

He said reducing waiting times, improving access to GPs and using new technology to speed up diagnosis and treatment would be central to Labour’s plans for the NHS.

Scottish Conservative candidate Farooq Choudhry is contesting the seat, representing the party’s campaign on lower taxes, economic growth and public services.

Scottish Liberal Democrat candidate Ross Stalker has previously stood in the area and has highlighted issues including mental health and the cost of living.

He has said he wants to see action to reduce living costs and improve public services, as well as a focus on fairness and support for local communities.

Reform UK candidate Jamie McGuire has been campaigning on housing and economic growth.

He said he supports building 15,000 social homes a year and reducing planning restrictions to increase housing supply, arguing this would help more people get onto the housing ladder. He has also called for lower taxes and measures to support economic growth.

Alliance for Democracy and Freedom candidate Ken Thomson is a former senior Scottish Government civil servant who served as director-general for strategy and external affairs.

He has said he wants to see stronger economic growth, lower taxes and improvements in public services including education and healthcare, and has criticised the performance of the Scottish Parliament since its creation.

With polling day approaching, voters will choose between candidates from across the political spectrum as they decide who will represent Renfrewshire West and Levern Valley at Holyrood.
