Tom Arthur said it was a “real honour and privilege” after being re-elected as MSP for Renfrewshire West and Levern Valley.

The SNP politician retained the seat at Friday’s Scottish Parliament election count at Braehead Arena.

Tom Arthur was first elected to the Scottish Parliament in 2016 as MSP for the former Renfrewshire South constituency before being re-elected in 2021.

Speaking after the declaration, Arthur said: “I’m absolutely delighted to have been elected as a member of the Scottish Parliament for Renfrewshire West and Levern Valley.

“It’s a real honour and a privilege.”

Arthur said he was looking forward to continuing work with communities he previously represented in the former Renfrewshire South constituency, while also working with areas added under the new boundaries.

He said: “I’ve co-represented many of the communities in this constituency over the past decade in the former Renfrewshire South constituency.

“So I’m looking forward to picking up and continuing where I left off in terms of the work I’ve been doing with a lot of local organisations and individuals.”

Arthur added that he was also keen to begin representing communities including Houston, Crosslee and Bridge of Weir.

He said: “I’m also very much looking forward to getting to know communities I’ve not previously represented in Houston, Crosslee and Bridge of Weir.

“For me, the priority will always be representing constituents’ interests and also working with our amazing range of local organisations and groups to ensure that we’re doing all we can to support people living within the constituency.”
