SuperPark Glasgow has announced it will soon open at Frasers Plus Braehead, becoming the first SuperPark location in the UK.
The 30,000 sq ft indoor activity park will be based beside the restaurant complex at the recently rebranded Braehead Shopping Centre. It will offer more than 30 activities designed for children, teenagers and adults to enjoy together.
SuperPark was founded in Finland in 2012 and now operates 28 parks across Finland, the Middle East, Asia and Australia. The company says its parks combine sport, movement and technology in an environment aimed at encouraging families to be active together.
Tickets will go on sale through the SuperPark website from 20th July.
Jonathan Doherty, Managing Director of SuperPark UK, said: “We are thrilled to reveal SuperPark Glasgow’s opening date. The countdown is on as we build towards sharing this fully inclusive, multi-generational activity park with the people of Glasgow. It’s for children, for teens, for adults, and for everyone of all backgrounds and abilities.”
He said the park was designed to encourage children to develop coordination, confidence and movement skills while having fun.
Jonathan added: “We hear a lot nowadays on the need to remove children from their screens. SuperPark is not about replacing technology, it’s about using it to enhance children’s experiences by making movement more interactive and motivating.
“There’s nothing passive whatsoever in SuperPark’s offering. Parents and children move, play and succeed side by side. You use your own body, you laugh, you learn. The result is more than just fun: it supports physical wellbeing, social interaction and mental confidence through shared, active experiences.”
He also confirmed that his Glasgow café business, Scran + Roadie, will open a second outlet inside SuperPark to provide food and drink for visitors.
The attraction will be accessible from both the ground and first floors of the shopping centre, with lift access available. The company said it has been recruiting local staff ahead of opening.
A recruitment day will take place at Scran + Roadie on 14th July from 9am until 11am.
Ashley Bisland, Centre Director at Frasers Plus Braehead Shopping Centre, said: “SuperPark is a fantastic addition to Braehead and we’re incredibly proud that it has chosen the centre as the home of its first UK location.
“Creating memorable days out for our visitors is a key part of our vision at Braehead, and SuperPark is another major step in strengthening our leisure offering alongside our retail and dining experiences. We’re confident it will become a real destination for families from across Renfrewshire, Glasgow and beyond. We’re looking forward to welcoming SuperPark this summer and seeing visitors experience everything it has to offer.”
Lynne Cooper, Regional Director at VisitScotland, said: “It’s very positive an international brand like SuperPark has chosen Scotland as the UK’s first location and a real boost to Renfrewshire’s reputation as a visitor destination.
“We hope this attraction will help encourage visitors into Renfrewshire to spend quality time together. Developments like this help Scotland’s year-round appeal and support the local visitor economy.”
Alasdair Morrison, Head of Economy and Development Services at Renfrewshire Council, said: “It is exciting that SuperPark has chosen Frasers Plus Braehead, and Renfrewshire, as the site for its first ever UK investment. This new activity concept should further enhance the leisure offer available in the city region to residents and visitors alike.”
