Shanks Park, Johnstone

Nine play parks across Renfrewshire are listed for renewal, with the first works expected to begin in early 2027.

Six sites form the first phase of the council’s 2026/27 programme, with a further three expected to follow in spring, subject to successful tendering.

Renfrewshire Council’s Infrastructure, Land and Environment Policy Board will consider the report on Wednesday, 4th November 2026.

The first phase covers Fountain Gardens, Darkwood Crescent and the top play area at Ferguslie Gardens in Paisley.

It also includes Elderslie West at Old Road, Lyle Crescent in Bishopton and Millfield Meadows in Erskine.

The report says tender bids for this phase are being evaluated. Contracts are expected to be awarded at the end of November, with work beginning in early 2027.

The second phase covers Thomas Shanks Park in Johnstone, Green Road at Morar Drive in Paisley and the Robinia play area at Robertson Park in Renfrew.

Tenders for those sites are expected to be issued at the beginning of November and returned in early January 2027. Work is expected to begin in spring if suitable bids are received.

The report confirms that the 2025/26 play park improvement programme is complete.

That programme included improvements at sites in Johnstone, Bishopton, Renfrew, Paisley, Linwood and Erskine, alongside outdoor gyms in Johnstone and Lochwinnoch.
