A community pledge asking residents and organisations to stand against hate, discrimination and intimidation has been backed by Paisley Southwest councillor Anne Hannigan.
The We Are All Renfrewshire pledge was shaped by local community groups and residents. People and organisations can add their names to support its commitment to making Renfrewshire a welcoming and safe place for everyone.
The Scottish Liberal Democrat councillor expressed her support for the initiative, which promotes fairness, understanding and mutual respect.
Councillor Hannigan said: “Paisley is a town with a proud history and a strong sense of community. Everyone who calls Paisley and Renfrewshire home deserves to feel safe, welcome and respected, regardless of their background.
“There is no place for racism, hatred or intimidation in our communities. We may not always agree on everything, but we should always treat one another with dignity and respect.
“I’m proud to support the We Are All Renfrewshire pledge and its positive message that what unites us as neighbours is far greater than anything that divides us. Together, we can build a kinder, stronger and more inclusive Renfrewshire.”
The pledge sets out four shared commitments. These are standing together against hate, discrimination and intimidation; promoting understanding, respect and fairness; welcoming everyone who chooses to make Renfrewshire their home; and working together to build stronger, more connected communities.
Supporters are invited to share the campaign image on social media or display it in windows, shopfronts, workplaces and community spaces.
Councillor Hannigan also welcomed the efforts of residents and community organisations supporting the initiative. She highlighted the importance of bringing people together and ensuring everyone feels a sense of belonging.
