It is not always easy to get that first step on the career ladder, even when you have earned your degree.

But Renfrewshire’s graduates do have the opportunity to turbo-charge their progress with an Invest in Renfrewshire Internship.

If you have graduated in the past two years, live in Renfrewshire, are aged 29 or younger, and are unemployed or underemployed, then an internship might be just the career boost you need.

Invest in Renfrewshire, the council’s business support and employability partnership, has already helped 160 local graduates find paid internships that relate to their degree subjects and career ambitions.

Invest arranges internships in a wide range of organisations including manufacturing, service industries and the public sector and Invest is always keen to work with graduates from all subjects and disciplines.

Four out of five Invest interns go straight from the programme into employment.

Councillor Mark Macmillan, Leader of Renfrewshire Council, said: “Renfrewshire’s greatest strength lies in its people, their skills and their drive.

We want give graduates the best possible start to their careers and we also want Renfrewshire to benefit from their talent and education.

Our regeneration success and the opportunities that will result from City Deal investments mean that our economy and need for a skilled workforce will grow.

Invest Internships are good for our graduates, our businesses and our economic prospects.

Councillor Macmillan continued, “The ‘Invest’ message is not only for graduates. Every year, we find work, apprenticeships and training opportunities for people of all ages and in a full range of trades and business sectors.

I urge any residents seeking work in Renfrewshire to contact Invest and become part of our economic growth.”
