Police and British Gas investigating possible energy theft, have seized a Gas meter belonging to a former chip shop
A locksmith was hired to gain access to Bruno’s Fish and Chips premises in High Street, Johnstone on Wednesday morning.
Police and investigators from British Gas were also present and the meter was removed for checks.
A British Gas spokesperson said they were not able to comment on individual cases where the Police are involved but did say: “We take energy theft seriously and we do not think it’s fair that honest customers should foot the bill so we do everything we can to detect it.
“Energy theft is illegal and highly dangerous.”
