Average private rents have fallen in Renfrewshire, while the average price of a home has increased to £159,000.

The average monthly rent stood at £795 in June 2026, down from £826 in March.

It was also 1.4% lower than the £807 average recorded in June 2025.

The figures were reported to the Fairer Renfrewshire Sub-committee at its online meeting on Wednesday 2nd September 2026.

Average rents across the combined Renfrewshire and Inverclyde area were £509 for a one-bedroom property and £670 for a two-bedroom home.

Three-bedroom properties averaged £860, while homes with four or more bedrooms averaged £1,516.

The council report said affordability remained a problem for many low-income households despite the reduction.

House prices moved in the opposite direction.

The average Renfrewshire home cost £159,000 in May 2026, an increase of 3.4% over the previous year.

The average price of a detached home was £364,000. Semi-detached properties averaged £220,000, terraced homes £163,000 and flats or maisonettes £102,000.

First-time buyers paid an average of £129,000, up from £126,000 the previous year.
