Paisley Comedy Festival draws hundreds over four days

Hundreds of people attended this year’s Paisley Comedy Festival, which brought some of Scotland’s best-known comedians to the town.

Stuart Mitchell, Susan Calman, Connor Burns and Christopher Macarthur-Boyd performed at Paisley Town Hall and Paisley Arts Centre from Thursday 10th to Sunday 13th September.

The programme also featured new talent from the local and Scottish comedy circuit.

Highlights included Calman’s first stand-up tour in a decade. Mitchell performed following his growing popularity on social media, while Burns arrived after a successful run at the Edinburgh Fringe.

Councillor Lisa-Marie Hughes, chair of festival organiser OneRen, said: “The feedback from audiences has been absolutely fantastic.

“With a really rich variety to the programme, we are delighted that they – and the performers – enjoyed themselves so much.

“The success of the comedy festival once again showcases the strength of Paisley and Renfrewshire as a destination for major cultural events.”

The comedy festival was the third major festival organised by OneRen this year. It followed the first Paisley Arts Festival in March and the return of Paisley Book Festival in May.

Plans are already under way for the return of Paisley Comedy Festival in 2027.
