Erskine Library is expected to reopen in its new temporary home in the grounds of Erskine Sports Centre on 9th November.
The library will close temporarily to the public from 24th October to allow the move from its current home in Bridgewater Shopping Centre.
Renfrewshire Council has been working to install a temporary modular building within the sports centre grounds since August. That work is now complete.
Councillor Lisa-Marie Hughes, chair of OneRen, said: “We know how much the local community values Erskine Library and wanted to ensure those services stayed in town when the lease for its current home in the shopping centre ended.
“We are pleased that, with the support of Renfrewshire Council, we have been able to secure this new site and are sure the Erskine community will continue to enjoy everything the library has to offer.
“We apologise for the short disruption to services next month and appreciate the patience of the community as we decant from Bridgewater Place to Erskine Sports Centre.”
During the temporary closure, users will be able to access services at Renfrewshire’s other public libraries in Bishopton, Bridge of Weir, Ferguslie, Foxbar, Glenburn, Johnstone, Linwood, Lochwinnoch, Paisley Central, Ralston and Renfrew.
Opening times vary. More information is available at www.oneren.org/culture/libraries or by calling 0300 300 1188.
Home delivery and online services are also available.
Councillors previously agreed to the move as a short-to-medium term solution for library provision in Erskine.
The wider Reshaping Renfrewshire programme, which is reviewing the region’s leisure and cultural services delivered by OneRen, continues.
OneRen operates Renfrewshire’s network of 12 public libraries as part of its management of the region’s leisure and cultural services.
