A new film showing the work of a support service for Renfrewshire families has been launched at an event in Paisley.
Around 70 children, young people, parents and representatives of partner organisations attended the premiere of the Family Wellbeing Service film.
Families talked about their experiences of the service. Staff and partner organisations also explained the work they do to support families.
Tam Young, who works in the Family Wellbeing Service and led the creation of the film, said: “This film shows the difference we are making for children, young people and families. It reflects the strength of partnership work taking place across Renfrewshire.
“I’d like to thank everyone who played a part. The commitment of Council services, partners organisations, young people and families has made this project a success.”
Newly formed band Suddenly Found performed during the event. The band is made up of five young people who are neurodiverse.
They came together after completing a pilot programme developed by the Family Wellbeing Service, Renfrewshire Music Services and Brick Lane Music Academy CIC.
The band has played five concerts, including Barshaw Park Gala Day, and has been interviewed by Paisley Radio. Members have said being in the band has increased their self-confidence and belief.
Councillor Emma Rodden, Renfrewshire Council’s Education Convener, said: “Every family should be able to get help when they need it, and as early as possible. The Family Wellbeing Service makes that happen by bringing all the support together. Support is tailored to each family’s circumstances.
“This film gives a real insight into the difference that approach is making. It shines a light on the positive impact Family Wellbeing Service has on families.”
The Family Wellbeing Service was established in 2024. The team is part of Renfrewshire Council’s Children’s Services and receives funding from the Scottish Government’s Whole Family Wellbeing Fund.
Voluntary organisations involved in the service receive funding through the Renfrewshire Whole Family Wellbeing Fund.
More than 1,500 people received support from the service last year through one-to-one support, family work and group sessions.
People can watch the film on Renfrewshire Council’s YouTube channel.
Parents can request help and support from the Family Wellbeing Service at any time.
