MSP for Renfrewshire South, Tom Arthur, has congratulated the Renfrewshire Sport Development Committee on their success in securing a £10,000 grant from The National Lottery Awards for All fund.
Tom has lodged a motion to the Scottish Parliament commending the committee’s tremendous achievements since their formation in 2002. The group specialises in close work with people with a broad range of disabilities and sensory impairments, through a variety of sporting activities that seeks to build their confidence.
As they meet regularly in local venues, the Committee has also strengthened community ties on a personal a regional level.
Commenting on the committee’s success, Mr Arthur said: “It is groups like Renfrewshire Sport Committee who are the glue of our local communities.
“Their work over the past 15 years has been invaluable to many people with disabilities, through their inclusive and specialised approach to sport.
“it is essential that people in the community are aware of the many sporting activities available for people with disabilities and I hope to support their work in any way I can in the future.”
