Detectives are appealing for witnesses after a man was slashed in the face in Erskine in the early hours of Friday morning.

The 25-year-old was in Lachlan Crescent in Linburn, Erskine when he was approached from behind by a man who assaulted him

The suspect then made off in a car, possibly a Nissan Qashqai or Nissan Juke. The vehicle headed off at speed towards Old Greenock Road and the injured man was taken by ambulance to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley where he was treated for facial lacerations then later released.

The suspect is described as around 5ft 10 inches in height and of heavy build and wearing a dark coloured hooded top with the hood up. The incident happened around 5.50am on Friday 10th February 2017.

Detective Constable Derek Johnston said: “This appears to have been a targeted attack and enquiries are being carried out to establish a motive for this assault, and of course trace the man responsible.
