A 26-year-old man has been given 16 stitches for a wound on his face after he was slashed in a Paisley nightclub.

The victim, has not been named by police, was thought to have got into an altercation on the dancefloor of Fantoosh, in New Street around 3am.

He was taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital where he received 16 stitches to his face before being released.

Detective Inspector Sandy Nelson said: “Police have received a report of a serious assault, which took place at Fantoosh in New Street, Paisley, at around 2.55am on Monday.

“A 26-year-old man suffered a serious facial injury and required hospital treatment at the RAH.

“We are currently reviewing CCTV as part of our enquiry.”

“I would ask any witnesses who were in or around the nightclub at the time of the incident to contact police on 101.”
