Health secretary Shona Robison will visit Paisley to meet with parents and campaigners to hear their views regarding the pending downgrading of services and closure of Ward 15, the RAHs children’s ward.

The visit was confirmed by letter to members of the ‘Kids Need Our Ward’ campaigners.

NHSGGC Board members voted in February with  20 votes to 7, to deliver paediatric in-patient care for children from the Royal Hospital for Children.

Some services will remain at the Royal Alexander Hospital, these include outpatient services, the specialist Community Paediatric service (PANDA), and emergency care via A&E.

Shona Robison will be visiting Paisley on Friday 19th May 2017.

Carolann Davidson, a campaigner behind  ‘Kids Need Our Ward’ campaign told Renfrewshire News: “We ‘the Kids need our Ward’ campaign have been working tirelessly to save Ward 15.

“We hope Shona Robison will listen to the parents and over turn the health board decision to close Ward 15.”
