A local Councillor has successfully compelled a motion calling on Renfrewshire Council to ask Network Rail and Scotrail to review the disabled facilities at a village railway station.
Emma Rodden, SNP councillor for Johnstone North, Kilbarchan, Howwood and Lochwinnoch put forward a motion calling on Renfrewshire Council to write to ScotRail and Network Rail, urging a review of parking provision and disabled access to platform 2 at Lochwinnoch Train Station.
An amended to upgrade the footpath was included.

Cllr Rodden said: “I am delighted to announce that following the acceptance of my motion to full council last week, Renfrewshire Council will write to Network Rail and Scotrail to ask for a review of parking provisions at Lochwinnoch Train Station, including disabled parking spaces. The letter will also request disabled facility provision at platform two.
“My motion was further amended by an opposition councillor to include work to upgrade the footpath and make sure the station is accessible.
“We are now scoping the required improvement works as part of our infrastructure investment programme.”
Cllr Rodden said that Lochwinnoch is a village with a population of around 4,000 but the residents have been neglected with poor parking provisions and no disabled access to platform 2.
She added: “I understand that these matters have been investigated previously, although with advances in technology and construction, and installation of improved access points in other local stations, I am hopeful that we will be successful in our endeavours this time around.
