Detectives are appealing for information following a serious assault on Friday.

Around 9pm, a 35-year-old man was in Morven Avenue when he became involved in an altercation with a man.

The other man approached and attacked him.

Emergency services attended the scene and the injured man was taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital where he received treatment for a head injury.

He has since been released.

The suspect is white, wearing a red and black striped top and dark coloured trousers.

Officers are reviewing CCTV images for any information which could assist their enquiries. They have also been carrying out door-to-door enquiries.

Detective Sergeant Craig Riddell said: “We are trying to piece together the exact circumstances of what has happened. At this stage, the motive for the attack is unclear and I am appealing for anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident to contact us.

“This is a mainly residential area and I’m sure there are a number of people who witnessed the incident.

“If anyone has any information or knowledge as to who is responsible for this attack, I would urge them to contact police and pass their information on.”

Anyone with information is asked to call CID officers at Paisley Police Station via 101, quoting incident number 4187 of 3 August 2018. Alternatively, please call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be given anonymously.
