Two Renfrewshire councillors have asked residents to be wary when using private waste collectors and to make sure these people are registered to do so.

This warning comes after uplifts collected were dumped in Brediland Road and Leitchland Road in the Foxbar area of Paisley.

The rogue traders normally advertise on local Facebook pages and on classified advertisements website Gumtree.

Councillor Stephen Burns told Renfrewshire News: “This is outrageous dumping items outside local shops on Brediland Road.”

Cllr Burns and his colleague Cllr Lorraine Cameron are urging residents to keep hold of there bulk waste for another couple of weeks in a secure place until the Council waste sites are fully operational and able to take larger items.

Cllr Burns, said: “Dumping will take considerable time to clear and resources could be put to better use. If anyone witness fly tipping this can be reported via the Council website.”

The SNP councillors, who cover Paisley Southwest have praised Council staff, Cllr burns added: “Council staff have been brilliant and very quick at uplifting any item reported and have worked around the clock in real terms in the local communities.”
