The Johnstone branch of Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) is set to close in August, it has been announced.

In letters sent out to customers, it states that the branch will close on Tuesday 15th August 2023.

RBS said that if you compare January 2019 and January 2022, counter transactions for personal customers have decreased by 55% in Johnstone.

Also, in 2021 67% of personal customers using the branch also chose to use Digital Banking or RBS mobile app.

RBS have been contacted for comment.

  1. Not a good day for Johnstone. The Square used to be vibrant… the local council need a re think and reduce rates in shops to entice new small business’s to rent local spaces

    1. Marie Roberts the council have no funds to upgrade the shops they have in Johnstone.
      Most of them need sorted out before they are upto rental standard.
      It’s not so much rstes as most of them get rates free under the rates free under the rates relief …
