Renfrew’s Robertson Park will host Scotland’s top piping talent once again as the Renfrew Pipe Band Competition returns to the town on Saturday 22nd July.
The free-to-attend event will see a full day of family entertainment in the park from 11:30am to 5pm – including children’s activities and workshops, inflatables and a farmer’s market.
Judges from the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association will be judging the bands on their performances across the various grades. Spectators will be able to enjoy the performances during the day, with the March Past at 4.30pm followed by the prize-giving with the Chieftain.
This year’s event Chieftain will be Tony Pierotti, who opened the original Piccolo Mondo restaurant in Renfrew in 1974. He said: “Last year’s competition was a great success and it’s an honour to be Chieftain this year. I’m sure we’ll enjoy coming together as a community to celebrate the musical talent on show.”
To help ease congestion around the park, free car parking is available at St James Primary School, 10 Brown Street S, Renfrew PA4 8HL. The school is just a five-minute flat walk from the event site.
Public transport to the park is also available with a number of bus stops conveniently located around Robertson Park on Inchinnan Road and Paisley Road.
