Two men have been arrested after an attempted murder at a flat in the Maxwellton Street area of Paisley.

Police Scotland have confirmed two men, aged 24 and 25, have been charged in connection with the incident which took place on Sunday at around 5.30pm on Sunday.

A 26-year-old man sustained life-threatening injuries and was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow where he remains in a critical condition.

Detective Inspector Nicola Wake said: “We would like to thank the public for their assistance with our enquiries, following our earlier appeal.

“Enquiries are ongoing into the incident and I’d encourage anyone with information who hasn’t already spoken to police to get in touch by calling 101, quoting incident 2647 of Sunday, 23 July, 2023.”
