Residents in Renfrewshire are being reminded of a change to bin collections which are due to be collected on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.

Grey and blue bins due on both days will instead be collected on Saturday 23rd December and Saturday 30th December respectively, with green bins collected on Sunday 24th December and Sunday 31st December.

The last brown bin and food waste collection of the year will take place on 22nd December and will resume as normal on Saturday 6th January.

All other collections over the Christmas and New Year period will take place as normal.

Councillor Michelle Campbell, Convener of Renfrewshire Council’s Infrastructure, Land and Environment Policy Board, said: “I want to thank our collection teams for the service they provide throughout the year which often takes place in difficult weather conditions, and for their continued work over the festive period.

“There will be no collections on Christmas or New Year’s Day to ensure our teams can spend time with their friends and families, so your collection will move slightly if you are due a collection on Christmas Day or New Year’s Day. Please check in advance so you are aware of your new date.

“We know that at this time of year that there is more rubbish collected than normal with wrapping paper, packaging and leftover food, so please ensure you separate your items, recycle as much as possible and use all your bins to ensure you have enough space.”

  1. It is quite probably the case that some eejit in the Cooncil was blissfully unaware that Monday 25th Dec was a ” special ” sort of day. I would have thought, however., that 1st Jan. was kinda more obvious! Very worrying

  2. Like SNPee Councillors brains become stagnant working from home ….
