MSP welcomes Renfrewshire Schools Pipe Band to Holyrood

🗓 10/09/2025

Renfrewshire Schools Pipe Band has been welcomed to the Scottish Parliament by local MSP Tom Arthur, following their successful appearance at New York’s Tartan Day earlier this year.
The band, made up of pupils from schools across Renfrewshire who practise at Johnstone High School, performed in the Parliament’s grounds during their visit.
Despite the drizzle, their music quickly drew a large crowd of onlookers.
After the performance, the young musicians joined Mr Arthur for a Q&A session before visiting the Chamber’s public gallery to watch Parliament in action.
Tom Arthur MSP said: “I was delighted to welcome the Renfrewshire Schools Pipe Band to Holyrood. These are hugely talented young people who should be very proud of their achievements, both here in Scotland and on the international stage.
“Their performance in the Parliament’s grounds was fantastic and it was a pleasure to see them quickly attract such a large crowd who very much enjoyed the show. The Q&A session and visit to the Chamber gallery afterwards also gave them a real insight into how our Parliament works.”
Tom added: “The band’s success is a testament to the dedication of the young musicians themselves, the support of their families, and the commitment of their schools and tutors. They are wonderful ambassadors for Renfrewshire and I look forward to following their future success.”
