Award-winning Scottish company SUPERFAN are bringing their high-octane Edinburgh Fringe hit Stuntman to Paisley this autumn.

Supported by Creative Scotland, the show blends dance, theatre and circus to deliver a hilarious yet tender exploration of masculinity and male violence. Using cartoon-style, action-movie-inspired fight scenes based on the performers’ own experiences, Stuntman takes audiences on an explosive, thought-provoking journey.

The performance is a duet where two stuntmen wrestle with their relationship to violence both on and off screen. Inspired by classic and contemporary action films such as Die Hard and John Wick, the show is also rooted in the lived experiences of performers David Banks (Fox, Stuntman at Summerhall) and Sadiq Ali (The Chosen Haram, Tell Me, The Unlikely Friendship of Featherboy and Tentacle Girl). The result is an intensely physical, funny and moving production.

With a striking, film-set-inspired design by Rachel O’Neill, sound design by Richy Carey and lighting by Michaella Fee, Stuntman immerses audiences in exaggerated fight sequences while questioning the influence of media portrayals of violence and action-hero role models.

Director and co-deviser Pete Lannon said:

“It’s great to be bringing Stuntman back to audiences around the UK, especially to places we’ve never toured before. The show bursts with fun while tackling complex themes, which feel more urgent every time we perform. I’m especially excited to take it to my hometown of Berwick-upon-Tweed and to the young audiences at HMP YOI Polmont.”

You can see Stuntman on Wednesday 17 September at 7:30pm at Paisley Arts Centre, 15 New Street, Paisley, PA1 1EZ.

Ticket prices are £15 for a standard ticket, and concession are £12.00.
