The Tannahill Centre in Ferguslie Park was filled to capacity on Monday 22nd Setember 2025, as around 150 people attended a local screening of Junkie, the acclaimed new documentary directed by Jordan Robertson and Sean Patrick Toal.
The film, which courageously explores the human and political dimensions of drug addiction in Scotland, was followed by a Q&A session with the filmmakers.
Originally planned for 30 minutes, the discussion ran for more than an hour and a half as audience members shared thoughtful, challenging and deeply personal questions.
Although the screening was free to attend, a collection in aid of Ferguslie Community Church’s Wednesday Drop In – also hosted at the Tannahill Centre – raised over £270 to support its vital local work.
Organisers described the evening as “a landmark moment for Ferguslie,” highlighting both the appetite for open discussion on addiction and the power of film to bring communities together.
Terry McTernan, Volunteer Coordinator, said: “The response to Junkie shows how hungry people are for dialogue that goes beyond the headlines and statistics. The questions, insights and stories shared last night demonstrate the strength of our community and its determination to confront difficult issues with compassion and honesty.”
The event also underlined the Tannahill Centre’s role as a hub for cultural and social dialogue in Ferguslie, providing a platform for people to come together to address challenges that affect lives locally and across Scotland.
