Linwood is set to shine this December as the town hosts its Christmas Lights Switch-On.
Families can enjoy arts and crafts, storytelling, performances from local school choirs and the Johnstone Brass Band, along with a giant walk-in snow globe — perfect for family photos.
Santa will make a special appearance to meet local children and join the countdown to the big moment, when he and the Provost will switch on Linwood’s Christmas lights at 7:30pm.
Join the festive fun and build up to the switch-on with a special concert featuring performances from local bands and schools. Doors will open at 6:00pm, with all guests asked to be seated by 6:20pm. Mince pies, tea, coffee, and hot chocolate will be available on arrival.
Renfrewshire’s Provost, alongside Santa himself, will be joined by this year’s Christmas card competition winner to switch on the lights at 7:30pm.
The event will take place at Tweedie Hall on Friday, 5th December 2025, from 5:30pm to 7:30pm, promising an evening full of festive cheer for all ages.
This event is free but ticketed. Book your place on Eventbrite here:

It follows new investment secured in this year’s Renfrewshire Council budget.
Councillor Robert Innes told Renfrewshire News: “This year we made sure Linwood had funding for a Christmas event that brings people together, similar to the other towns in Renfrewshire. Every community deserves the chance to celebrate the festive season.
“I have really pushed for a five-town approach in Renfrewshire, ensuring investment, regeneration and community spirit reach every corner of the area, and events such as this in Linwood are a step in that direction.
“The Christmas event is free and open to everyone, so wrap up warm, bring the family, and enjoy a magical evening with Santa in Linwood!”
