Renfrew Bridge reopens after mechanical issue with further closure planned

The Renfrew Bridge remains closed again today after it was shut to all traffic on Friday.

The swing bridge, which links Renfrew with Yoker, had already faced several closures last week to allow for maintenance work. However, the crossing was fully closed on Friday afternoon to vehicles, cyclists, and pedestrians and it has yet to reopen.

According to the Renfrew Bridge portal on the Renfrewshire Council website, the closure is due to “essential maintenance.”

A statement reads: “The Renfrew Bridge is currently closed for essential maintenance. Please use an alternative route and we apologise for the inconvenience. We will update this page with reopening information so please continue to check ahead of travelling.”

Drivers and pedestrians are being advised to plan alternative routes until further notice.
