The Tesco store in Linwood was closed for several hours this morning following an alleged robbery in the early hours.

The incident reportedly took place around 2:25am on Tuesday, 11th November 2025.

Two men, aged 43 and 51, have been arrested and charged in connection with the break-in.

According to a report from the Renfrewshire Gazette, police officers carried out searches in the local area and found two men matching the suspects’ descriptions. They were allegedly found in possession of a large quantity of coins.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Two men aged 43 and 51 years have been arrested and charged following a break-in at a shop on Bridge Street, Linwood, on Tuesday, 11th November 2025.

“They are due to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court on Wednesday, 12th November 2025.

“A report will be forwarded to the Procurator Fiscal.”

A Tesco spokesperson added: “Our Linwood Superstore and petrol filling station are now open as usual following a short closure earlier this morning. We are sorry for the inconvenience caused by this temporary closure.”
