A new children’s novel set in Renfrewshire has been released by local publisher Pelters Press.

‘The Curse of Bann’, written by Alasdair Caimbeul, is aimed at readers aged 10 to 14 and follows three young characters — Catriona, Struan and Lachie — who uncover a mysterious secret after moving into an old house in a historic Scottish village. Their discovery leads them into a dramatic adventure involving a druid, a riddle and a journey deep into the past.

Caimbeul said he wrote the story to help young people understand the layers of history beneath their feet. He said: “I wrote the story to show my own children that they were not the only people to inhabit our landscape.

“I wanted them to see that, over centuries, other families had made the place their home. Of course, I also wanted to give them something interesting and entertaining to read.”

‘The Curse of Bann’ is out now and available in paperback from Pelters Press and Amazon, priced at £7.99, with a Kindle edition on sale for £2.99.
