A 36-year-old man has died after being injured at a demolition site in Paisley.
Emergency services were called to Waverley Road at around 9.15am on Friday, 9th January, following reports that a man had been seriously injured during demolition works in the Foxbar area.
A major emergency response attended the scene, including police officers, fire crews and specialist ambulance teams. The man was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow in a critical condition, where he later died on Saturday, 10th January.
A police cordon was put in place around part of the demolition site following the incident, with members of the public advised to avoid the area while enquiries were carried out.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Around 9.15am on Friday, 9 January, 2026, we were called to a demolition site on Waverley Road in Paisley after a man was injured.
“The 36-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment, where he died on Saturday, 10 January, 2026.
“An investigation into the circumstances remains ongoing and the Health and Safety Executive have been informed.
“A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.”
The Scottish Ambulance Service confirmed it dispatched an ambulance, a trauma team and a specialist operations team to the scene.
