Two men have been arrested and charged following a series of ATM break-ins and thefts across Scotland, including an incident in Bridge of Weir in Renfrewshire.
The men, aged 23 and 27, were arrested in England on Monday. They are charged in connection with break-ins and thefts at ATMs on Whitburn Road in Bathgate and Burnbank Road in Falkirk on Tuesday, 7th October 2025, as well as an attempted break-in at an ATM in Newtown St Boswells on the same day. Both men are due to appear at Jedburgh Sheriff Court on Wednesday, 14th January 2026.
The 27-year-old man has also been charged in connection with further ATM thefts, including one on Main Street in Bridge of Weir on Monday, 18th August 2025, which falls within Renfrewshire. The other locations linked to these additional charges are Kirkintilloch Road in Lenzie on Saturday, 28th June 2025, and Perth Road in Scone on Sunday, 29th June 2025. He is due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Thursday, 15th January 2026.
Detective Superintendent David MacGregor thanked officers from Leicestershire Constabulary and the Northeast Regional Organised Crime Unit for their assistance with the investigation.
