Two men have been charged after officers seized illicit tobacco from a premises in Paisley town centre.

Police Scotland said the seizure took place on Thursday, 19th February 2026 during a plain clothes patrol in Moss Street, Paisley.

Officers recovered a quantity of illicit tobacco from the premises. Two men were charged in connection with the sale and possession of the products.

Police said illicit tobacco can contain harmful substances which pose serious health risks and can help fund serious and organised crime.

A spokesperson said: “Illicit tobacco can contain harmful substances which pose serious health risks and helps fund serious and organised crime.

“Officers will continue to work closely with our partner agencies to disrupt, detect and deter anyone involved in the illicit trade of illegal or counterfeit cigarettes and tobacco.”

The report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
