A teenage boy was raped in an alleyway in Paisley town centre on Tuesday evening.

Police have cordoned off Meetinghouse Lane while enquiries continue following the attack, which happened at around 8.15pm on Tuesday, 3rd March 2026.

The victim, a teenage male, was attacked by an unknown man in the lane.

The suspect is described as white, around 30 years old, with long brown hair. He was wearing a black gilet, light coloured hooded top, grey jogging bottoms and black and grey Nike shoes.

Officers remain in the area while investigations continue.

Detective Inspector David Hardie said: “This was a terrifying incident for the victim and it’s vital we trace the man responsible.

“I’m appealing to anyone with information to come forward. We’re particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have seen two males, one matching the suspect description, in the County Square area around 8pm.

“I’d also ask drivers with dash-cams or residents with private CCTV or doorbell cameras to check your footage and bring anything of significance to our attention.”
