Road closures will be in place across Paisley and surrounding areas on Sunday 22nd March 2026 for the Paisley Half Marathon.

Closures will begin at 8:00am and remain in operation until 2:00pm.

The Paisley Half Marathon is a brand-new, closed-road running event making its debut on Sunday, 26th April 2026.

Organised by the team at Future Sports Events, the race will follow a looped course starting in Paisley town centre before heading west out towards Linwood and Elderslie.

Runners will leave the town centre and move onto longer stretches of road, passing through Ferguslie Park and onto Linwood Road before continuing towards Elderslie.

The route then follows Main Road in Elderslie up to Thornhill Avenue, where runners will turn and head back towards Paisley along the same route.

After returning from Elderslie, runners will re-enter Paisley and pass through town centre streets including Gauze Street and High Street, with the race finishing near Paisley Abbey.

The course combines tighter town centre sections with longer, straighter roads on the outward and return legs, forming an out-and-back section within the wider loop.

A number of roads will be fully closed during the event. These include Abbey Close, Bridge Street, Camphill, Canal Street, Candren Road, Cotton Street, Ferguslie Park Avenue, Gauze Street, Gilmour Street, Elderslie Main Road, Moss Street, Thornhill and Underwood Road.

High Street will be fully closed between Gauze Street and Storie Street, with an eastbound closure from Storie Street to Castle Street.

Other roads will have partial closures. Barskiven Road and Castle Street will be closed northbound. George Street will be closed westbound from Castle Street to Wardrop Street, while Wellmeadow Street will be closed eastbound.

Linwood Road will be fully closed from Saturn Avenue to Barskiven Road, with a northbound closure from Main Road to Barskiven Road.

Beith Road will be closed between Williamson Place and Thornhill. Blackstoun Road will be closed from Bankfoot Road to Candren Road. Greenhill Road will be closed between Clark Street and Underwood Road.

New Street will be closed from Weighhouse Close to High Street, while St James Street will be closed westbound. Thorn Brae will be closed from Thornside Road to Thornhill.

The Glasgow to Irvine Cycle Route will also be affected between Canal Street in Paisley and Linwood.

Wardrop Street will be fully closed.

Access will be maintained for emergency services at all times.
